The Lady Warriors continue to surpass expectations as the cross country season moves past the midway point. Coming to the Milaca Mega Meet with the 10th best average time out of 53 competing single A schools, the Warriors raced to many personal best times and took 3rd out of 53 teams, beating 2 teams ranked in the top 10 in the state. Alyssa Peterson led the pack of yellow and black taking 10th place and coming in at a personal best 16:11, shaving off 8 seconds from her previous personal best. Fellow 8th grader Annika Aho dropped nearly 30 seconds off her personal best to take 16th in a time of 16:27. Sophomore Anna Olson was the third runner in and the third runner to break 17 minutes on the day running a time of 16:55 and dropping 30 seconds off her previous time. She took 30th place. Senior Andrea Korvela came in at 17:31 finishing in 50th place. 8th grader Cierra Ahlf, running in only her 2nd race and first since the first meet of the year was the final point scorer for the Warriors coming in at 17:41 and taking 59th place. Rounding out the varsity squad was the fourth 8th grader of the group, Megan Hendrickson, in a time of 17:50 and placing 69th. The girls had an average time of under 17 minutes for the first time in the history of the United North Central girls cross country program. The team now has 10 days to rest up, heal up, add mileage and add speed before competing in an incredibly tough race at Perham on October 2nd.
