Coed Varsity Cross Country · Warriors hang tough in strong Perham meet

The Lady Warriors ran a school record 16:40 average team time in route to a 7th place finish in the very tough Perham invitational.  They out placed fellow section 8 rival Park Rapids by 3 points and fell just short of Roseau and Perham.  Alyssa Peterson led the charge with a time of 16:04.  She was followed closely by fellow 8th grader Annika Aho at 16:11.  The 3rd girl under 17 minutes for the day was Anna Olson at 16:41.  Andrea Korvela and Cierra Ahlf rounded out the warriors scoring coming in at 17:07 and 17:14 respectively.  Alyssa, Annika, Anna and Cierra all ran personal bests and Andrea missed a personal best by 7 seconds.

The boys also ran very well shattering their previous season best team average of 20:14 by putting up an average of 19:44.  Many of the boys were running their first race of the year as the young boys had been running junior high races up to this point.  The boys were led by Joe Keranen coming in at 19:26, followed closely by Sterling Crabb at 19:36.  8th graders Lars Keranen and Blake Schoon came as the Warriors 3rd and 4th runners right behind Sterling at 19:44 and 19:47.  Steven Rogers rounded out the top 5 at 20:04.

Next race is this Saturday at the Swain Invitational in Duluth.
