Sebeka junior Heidi Olson hit the 1,000 point plateau midway through the first half in the Lady Trojan’s victory over Red Lake Falls, 71-63. Fans guessed that would be the highlight of the night for her but little did they know that history was about to occur later in the game as she set a new school record with 50 points in a single game and a state record with 33 FT attempts in a game.
Red Lake Falls took an early lead and led by as much as 16 points in the first half. Sebeka would manage to cut the lead to four by halftime. Olson would take over in the second half and score most of Sebeka’s points. Sebeka would lose three starters due to fouls with over ten minutes in the second half. All told, 73 fouls would be called in the game and 8 players total would foul out. Olson would take advantage of the fouls as she made 20-33 freethrows in the game. Sebeka would take the lead with minutes left and hold on for the victory.
The win gives Sebeka a 7-1 record. They will next be in action at Hill City on January 9th.
