The Trojans came out slow in the clash with Verndale and trailed very early in the game. They would rally and tie the game at 16 points on the strength of 4 three pointers. They had an open layup and putback to take the lead but missed both. After that the Trojans experienced a prolific scoring drought. In the next 15 minutes of game time the Trojans failed to score a single point. Verndale scored 20 in that span to take a 36-16 lead. Sebeka broke the drought with a freethrow. They then went another minute before scoring their first field goal in 16 minutes. Poor shooting and turnovers led to the huge Verndale run.
