Back in January, Sebeka lost to Pillager 70-42. Tonight the Trojans traveled to face the 12-6 Huskies on their home floor. Sebeka would come away with a big conference win on the road beating the Huskies 52-50. Pillager caused 24 Sebeka turnovers and out-rebounded Sebeka but the Trojans out shot the Huskies in all three areas. The biggest area was freethrows as the Trojans were 16-24 from the line (67%) and the Huskies were 15-30 (50%). Sebeka also shot 41% from the field compared to 30% for Pillager.
The entire game was a back and forth battle as the largest lead in the game was 5 points.by Pillager in the first half. The largest lead in the second half was 3. There were 18 lead changes and 7 ties. With 1:09 left in the game, Mason Dailey hit two freethrows to put the Trojans up by one. Pillager would then hit a freethrow to tie the game at 50. Sebeka would hold for last shot and Kolby Kiser would hit a shot in the post with 4.2 seconds left. After a timeout, Pillager advanced the ball down the court in a hurry and had a wide open reverse layup at the buzzer but missed it to give the Trojans the victory.
Mason Dailey had an outstanding game with 23 points (8-10 freethrows) and 4 rebounds. Kolby Kiser had a solid game with 14 points, 16 rebounds and brought the ball up the court vs Pillager’s press most of the second half. Mason Heino scored 6 big points to jump start the Trojans in the first half, including a rare four point play. David Avelsgard hit a huge three pointer with 2:48 left in the game to give Sebeka a two point lead. He finished with 5 points. Tyce Lee scored 2 points and grabbed 2 rebounds. Dawson Bullock and Ethan Simon both hit big freethrows and each had 1 point. Brandon Miller grabbed 5 rebounds and took a big charge.
